Since yesterday’s Twitter rant turned war between Nicki Minaj vs. MTV and Taylor Swift vs. Nicki, everyone has been chiming in with their two cents on each respective issue. In case you forgot Nicki voiced her opinion on the fact that black artists are not acknowledged by MTV (and other shows) the way their white counterparts are. She stated that a black artist can do all the same things and then some that a white artist can do yet they still don’t get the recognition when it comes to awards. She also pointed out that the industry including MTV throws shade toward African-American women and preferred female stars “with very slim bodies.”
Following her tweets, Taylor took issue with Nicki’s opinion and called her out on Twitter for what she thought was Nicki “pitting women against other women”. Nicki claimed that her videos for “Anaconda” and “Feeling Myself” were overlooked in the Video of The Year category while Taylor landed several nods including VOTY for “Bad Blood” which debuted months after Nicki’s.
“I’ve done nothing but love and support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot,” tweeted Swift, who has cast herself as a feminist.
Well now Taylor’s frenemy Katy Perry has jumped in the fight and seemingly taken the side of Nicki. The “Fireworks” performer tweeted the following this evening (July 22).
Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…

For those wondering why Katy and Taylor have “bad blood” Swift has gone on record stating that she wrote the song — with the lines “Now we got problems / And I don’t think we can solve them” — about another pop star whom she accused of undercutting her and being catty and malicious toward her. Although she never named Katy directly it has been widely assumed it was about her. Elsewhere, Katy also voiced her opinion with the fact that another black female artist, Rihanna was not recognized by MTV for her “Better Have My Money” video.
The real travesty is where is the shine for #BBHMMVideo when VMA eligibility period was 7/7/14-7/1/15 & that gem dropped 7/1… @MTV — KATY PERRY (@katyperry) July 22, 2015
