Janet Jackson album speculation has been running rampant the past few days, even more than ever after unconfirmed reports came out that the iconic singer was plotting a summer time release of her highly anticipated new album.
According to the reports the star has signed with Atlantic Records, and is aiming to release an album on July 10. It was also reported that FYE record stores across the country are allegedly taking pre-orders for the album and are reportedly confirming the release.
We are not quite sold on either of these reports as being factual. In this day in age anything can be doctored so the “release date list” is more than likely fake. However when calls were placed to multiple record stores they are confirming the upcoming release but label information and artwork have not been provided. In addition, Gigwise reports most major music stores have confirmed Janet Jackson’s untitled album is due July 7 and will be available for pre-order, as well.
According to a report by Stereogum, Janet’s new album is due but might not be released through Atlantic Record. Atlantic has not confirmed or denied an upcoming Janet release. Singer Sia‘s manager David Russell took to Twitter this past week to fuel the rumors confirming some insider industry scoop on the album.
OMG JANET.

You guys I’m not THE authority but I’ve heard from some great sources that the Janet Jackson news is true. Can you even?!?!? — David Russell (@17days) May 8, 2015
Well if all that weren’t enough, the singer herself has added more fuel to the fire with a simple hashtag. Janet took to Twitter on Sunday sharing the following tweet below.
The depth of this. #ConversationsInACafehttps://t.co/6DTZ684Rdy

From the looks of images Janet and her good friend Jimmy Jam shared along with the hashtag, we assume that the “conversation” is more related to a socially conscious movement more so than an album. However Jimmy later tweeted the below image of handwritten song lyrics allegedly written by Janet and possibly from a new song.
If the tweet is indeed new song lyrics, it seems as though the direction of the new album or at leat the single will be deep, politically and socially responsible/awareness music similar to her iconic Rhythm Nation, Velvet Rope. So perhaps the movement will be tied to the new single/album. We’re thinking Rhythm Nation 2.o.
Twitter instantly began using the hashtag which was trending and trying to piece together what is coming.
