It’s about two weeks until The Voice returns to NBC on February 24 at 8PM which will also see the return of last year’s judge Usher. Now it is revealed that the singer has called for backup from one of our favorite female singers as his new mentor for the contestants on his team, Jill Scott. Ush told Extra‘s Renee Bargh:

“That’s my secret weapon, incredible, as a writer, as a musician, as an actress, all those elements really help to prepare artists.”

Speaking on her addition to season 6 Jill says it didn’t take too much convincing on Usher’s part:

“When Usher calls, you take the call.”

Ahead of her debut the singer revealed some great advice for the contestants:

“Listen to your gut, follow your heart and it will lead you somewhere special.”
