Chart Check: Cardi B Earns Her Fifth No.1 Hit with ‘Up’/Becomes Female Rapper with Most No.1’s on Billboard Hot 100

Posted March 22, 2021

Cardi B is all the way ‘Up’ and it’s stuck!

Just a week after her controversial performance at the Grammys, the rapper has just snagged another no. 1 hit with her current single ‘UP.’

The song took the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and now becomes her fifth No. 1 on the charts this week. The song dethrones Drake’s ‘What’s Next,’ rising from No. 6 to No. 1 after debuting at No. 2 five weeks earlier.

Cardi previously reached No. 1 with hits ‘Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),’ ‘I Like It’ with Bad Bunny & J Balvin, ‘Girls Like You’ with Maroon 5, and ‘WAP’ with Megan Thee Stallion–which also just crossed the 5xs platinum mark as of a couple weeks ago.

She now extends her record for the most Hot 100 No. 1s among all female rappers ever. ‘Up’ also becomes Cardi B’s first Hot 100 No. 1 with no accompanying acts since Bodak Yellow’–and she is the first female rapper with two Hot 100 No. 1s with no accompanying artists.

Cardi took to IG to celebrate the news.
