New details in the alleged assault of actor, Jussie Smollett came out on Saturday, and according to the claims, things aren’t looking very good for the ‘Empire‘ star.
Reports from CNN claim that the sources from the Chicago Police Department believe and are suggesting that Jussie orchestrated his own “attack” and that the two men who were once ‘suspects‘ have revealed details that will support that claim.
The men, who are brothers, were arrested Wednesday but released without charges Friday after Chicago police cited the discovery of “new evidence.”The sources told CNN the two men are now cooperating fully with law enforcement.Smollett told authorities he was attacked early January 29 by two men who were “yelling out racial and homophobic slurs.” He said one attacker put a rope around his neck and poured an unknown chemical substance on him.The sources told CNN there are records that show the two brothers purchased the rope found around Smollett’s neck at an Ace Hardware store in Chicago.
CNN’s attempts Saturday to reach both Smollett’s representative and attorney were unsuccessful.
Our sources say the brothers — both of whom worked on the “Empire” set — “completely cooperated” with Chicago cops during their interrogation over the last few days.
One law enforcement source tells TMZ at least one of the brothers turned over his phone and there is a call between him and Jussie in the vicinity of the “attack,” but before it happened.
CNN is reporting the brothers purchased what looks like the rope Jussie had around his neck at a Chicago Ace Hardware store. CNN is also citing law enforcement sources saying Jussie paid the brothers to orchestrate the phony assault.
At time of posting, Jussie had not responded to the new developments and claims, but social media is already having a field day with it. Despite having an initial out powering of support, now Jussie is receiving a lot of backlash. Get into just some of the reactions below.

Jussie has reportedly hired a lawyer following the new accusations.
Jussie Smollett has hired Michael Cohen’s criminal defense lawyer, the attorney confirmed this week, amid the deepening mystery of the “Empire” actor’s claim that he was the victim of a hate attack.
“Yes, at the moment, I am,” Michael Monico, a former federal prosecutor in Illinois’ Northern District, told WGN’s “The Roe Conn Show” on Thursday.
Monico did not say how long he’s been representing Smollett, or in what capacity.
Cohen, President Trump’s former personal attorney, hired Monico to his defense team last month to represent him as he faces federal charges that he violated campaign finance laws and lied to Congress.
All of these developments come less than 48 hours after his exclusive interview with ABC News where he spoke for the first time publicly in detail on the matter.
