Lovers & Friends Festival: Lil Kim Confirms She Is Officially Performing “The Check Has Cleared”

Posted February 20, 2020

Earlier this week Hip Hop and R&B fans had their minds blown when a flyer was released on Tuesday (Feb 18) promoting a jam-packed lineup for a new festival called ‘Lovers & Friends.’

The seemingly unreal roster included everyone from Lauryn Hill, Usher, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, TLC, Nelly, Brandy, Monica, Ja Rule, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Eve, Trina, Ginuwine, 112, SWV, Next, Dru Hill, Tweet, Amerie and many more.

Music lovers instantly began speculating if the previously unheard of event was legit, but it was later confirmed to be real and being brought to fans by none other than Snoop Dogg in a partnership with Soulection and promoted by AEG-owned Goldenvoice (the team who are behind Coachella).

Snoop took to social media to confirm the event was indeed real.

Meanwhile, several of the artists on the proposed lineup including Mase, Lil Kim and Twista immediately took to social media denying that they would be perfomring on the bill.

In a statement to Variety, Goldenvoice said, “Our festival is 100% confirmed. Lineups are always subject to change.”

Well, it appears as though checks are clearing and contracts are officially being finalized, as Kim took to social media early Thursday (Feb 20) to retract her initial decline, and revealed that thanks to Snoop pushing things through, she now will be officially performing.

With Kim’s tweet came an updated flyer with the lineup looking seemingly the same, minus Foxy Brown. Promotors have confirmed that Foxy is still slated to perform.

Several of the other artists have also confirmed their participation so it appears as if everything is a go.

The event will take place on May 9 at the 27,000-capacity Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. Pre-sale tickets are available starting today.

Update: There has been a second date added to the festival due to popular demand. Additional acts such as Mya, Donnell Jones, Doja Cat and more have been added while Megan Thee Stallion and a few others have fallen off. Check out the updated lineup below.
