Congrats are in order for Da Brat and her wife, Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart as the couple just announced they are expecting a baby.
Da Brat took to social media on Tuesday to reveal that she is pregnant with her first child at 48 years old and that she is 18 weeks pregnant.
The announcement comes just a year after the two got married last year in Atlanta. Da Brat spoke about the pregnancy and revealed that she didn’t think pregnancy was in the cards for her.
“I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.”
The couple revealed that they decided Brat would carry the baby due to her wife’s history of health complications following her egg retrieval procedure.
Brat also underwent surgery to remove fibroids and polyps prior to her embryo transfer procedure and even suffered a miscarriage. Ultimately, the couple chose an anonymous donor described from their cryobank.
The couple also appeared on ‘Sherri‘ on Tuesday to announce the pregnancy and dish on their motherhood journey.
