Deborah Cox stopped by ‘The Wendy Williams’ Show on Friday, Oct. 14 to chat on the couch about her upcoming role as Whitney Houston‘s character in the highly anticipated ‘The Bodyguard: The Musical,’ her personal relationship with Whitney, her long history as an LGBT advocate and more.

The singer who is looking as young as ever and absolutely flawless, dished on why she took on the iconic role of Rachel Marron, which was brought to life by Whitney in the cult classic film, but now heading to Broadway. She revealed that her friendship with Whitney, highly influenced her connection to the project and reveals that she was just as critical of the script and making sure it was done correctly as much as the fans are.

Elsewhere, she dishes with Wendy on her extensive history as an advocate and icon for the LGBT community. She also touched on why she thinks her career (although extremely successful) has not reached the heights as other singers such as Whitney, when she has such a power house voice.
