Fans of ‘Braxton Family Values‘ were excited and ready for their upcoming seventh season slated to air on WEtv later this year, but now with the network severing ties with Tamar Braxton following her suicide attempt–it’s not exactly clear where the show stands.
As fans know, prior to her suicide attempt/hospitalization weeks ago, Tamar began expressing her unhappiness with We TV for months leading up to it. She accused the network of exploiting her family, instigating drama for ratings, and says they were underpaid, despite having the longest number-one-rated reality series for a predominately Black cast.
Tamar was off social media following her hospitilization but as soon as she returned to Instagram, she resumed her critique of the network and made it clear that she still had resentment with them.
As a result, the network granted Tamar her wish and cut ties by releasing her from her contract and all future work including her spin-off series that is still set to air this month, and future tapings of ‘Braxton Family Values.’
In a recent interview with ‘The Rickey Smiley Morning Show‘ to promote her new album ‘Spell My Name,’ Toni Braxton spoke on the status of filming prior to Tamar’s departure, and where it stands now.
“We were filming, even during the pandemic we’ve been filming,” she says. “We came up with a clever idea [for filming during quarantine] and it’s been working out very well.”
“My sister Tamar had a little situation but it’s not my business to tell her business,” she says. “But I can say that our family is doing so much better, we’re in a healthier place. And, I have to tell people that mental illness is not a joke. If anybody in your family is sad, you need to listen to them. It’s not always drama, sometimes is just sadness.”
