Porsha Williams, Yandy Smith-Harris Released After Being Arrested at Breonna Taylor Protest [Details/Video]

Posted July 15, 2020

Porsha Williams and Yandy Smith-Harris were detained and arrested last night while attending the Breonna Taylor protest in Louisville.

As previously confirmed, the pair were part of a massive demonstration outside the home of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who has yet to file criminal charges against the Louisville cops involved in Breonna’s death.

Porsha was hauled away from Cameron’s home, with her wrists in zip ties, as protesters chanted Breonna’s name. Louisville PD tells us Porsha was cited for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and intimidating a participant in legal process.

Cameron had the police round up and haul off Porsha, Yandy, and several others to the county lockup. Porsha’s final charges were felony “intimidating a participant in the legal process,” according to The Blast. She was also charged with criminal trespass, a third-degree misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a second-degree misdemeanor.

She was initially held without bond, but went before the judge on Wednesday morning and saw the judge.

Her sister Lauren took to IG to share the release footage.

Porsha also took to IG following her release.

Yandy also took to IG.

This is the FELONY CHARGE @danieljaycameron and Louisville Metro Department of Corrections think applies to peaceful protestors. BUT #breonnataylor MURDERERS are still free! . . . @ybncordae and @kstills has still not been release along with many others. This is unacceptable for a peaceful protest. And they have charged us with a FELONY for a peaceful protest because @danieljaycameron feels intimidated. But the murdering cops are still free. CALL ATTORNEY GENRAL @danieljaycameron AND TELL HIM #1 WE WONT BE INTIMIDATED. #2 ARREST THE COPS #3 DROP THE CHARGES AND FREE THE PROTESTORS BECAUSE We outside and we plan to stay here UNTIL FREEDOM! . . . @untilfreedom and @grassrootslaw are at the jail and have not left. And will not leave until every single protestor is free. We will also be bailing everyone out who has a bond. . . Please start blowing up their phones now Louisville Metro Department of Corrections ‭+1 (502) 574-8477‬ Tell them to free all the protestors and drop the charges #freeUsUntilTheyFreeUs #justiceforbreonnataylor @untilfreedom
