The cast of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunited this past weekend to wish an emotional farewell to James Avery, their TV dad Uncle Phil.
Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey) and Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv) reunited for a special memorial for Avery on Saturday, January 11th. Ribeiro posted a photo of the cast, minus Will Smith, with Avery’s wife, Barbara.
“We said goodbye to the amazing James Avery last night. I was honored to host the memorial for Barbara Avery. It was a wonderful tribute and celebration of his life. He will be deeply missed”, Alfonso wrote.
Also absent from the service was actress Janet Hubert, who played the first Aunt Viv (TV wife of Avery). It is no secret though that Janet had major conflict with the show’s star Will it was speculated for years that was the reason she was fired from the show and has publicly trashed Will. Perhaps she expected to see Will at the service and did not attend to avoid him, but obviously neither showed.
