Must See: Tank Dishes On Backlash For Performing at DC’s Black Gay Pride+Almost Fighting Tyrese Over TGT, Aaliyah & Ginuwine Giving Him His Start & More at ‘Drink Champs’ [Full Interview]

Posted May 23, 2022

R&B crooner, Tank has long been one of my R&B faves because outside of his incredible catalog of music (and being from the same DMV alma mater), the R&B crooner has always been relatable and given back love to ALL of his fans

So when the singer was given the chance to perform at D.C.’s Black Gay Pride in 2017, my love as a supporter grew even more.

In a new interview with NORE on his wildly popular podcast ‘Drink Champs,’ the singer recalls that moment being the first straight male performer EVER for a D.C. Black Gay Pride event at the time.

He also recalls the criticism and backlash he received from the straight community who took issue with not only the fact that Tank was performing for gay men but also performed shirtless at the event!

During his ‘Drink Champs’ visit, he discussed it all and reaffirmed his love for the LGBTQ+ community, and talked about the stigma that the black community has when it comes to LGBTQ+ matters.

Elsewhere, Tank dished on his thoughts on the state of R&B and the lack of support for real R&B/Black singers, The Grammys, his infamous ‘Breakfast Club’ interview, Aaliyah and Ginuwine giving him his big chance!

As it relates to Ginuwine, he also dished on the breakup and drama surrounding TGT. Tank revealed that he and groupmate Tyrese had many verbal altercations and disagreements over the music and business aspects of TGT and that things almost got physical, his very detailed stories of R. Kelly, their awkward encounters, and much more!
