Mo’Nique is reacting to the major backlash she received following a video she posted to her Instagram account on Friday where she critiqued black women for wearing bonnets, slippers, pajamas, and other casual attire in public settings.

The actress/comedian took to IG to reveal that during a recent trip, while in the airport in Atlanta she noticed a sea of women wearing bonnets, pajamas, etc. in the airport. Mo revealed that she was not here for it, and suggested that black women take more pride in their appearance and how they show up in the world.

Following the release of the clip, Mo received major backlash on social media, and across the internet, as folks chimed in and gave her the business. Her comments were flooded with fans and like-minded followers who were not happy with Mo’Nique seemingly shaming black women on her platform.

Well, on Tuesday, she took back to IG to follow up on her post, and react to the backlash. While Mo says her intent was not to offend or judge anyone, she made it clear that she meant what she said and stands by it.
