Michelle Williams Gets Real on Her Battle with Depression & Mental Health In New Memoir ‘Checking In’

Posted November 17, 2020

Michelle Williams is getting real and sharing her story on her battles with depression and mental health in her first book ‘Checking In.’

The former Destiny’s Child singer took to social media this week to announce that the book will dive into her challenges and how she overcame depression.

I have been so excited to share the name of my book, the book cover and preorder link. I started this process in 2019 and now we are finally here! My new book Checking In will be available May 25, 2021. I share all the parts of my story. The good, bad and ugly! I am a transparent person and I leave nothing unsaid. I have stuff for the nosey folks too!! 😘😂.Getting real about depression saved my life and I hope it can do the same for you!! I had to be intentional about checking in with myself, checking in with others and checking in with God.

Michelle has previously been very vocal on her struggles with depression and revealed to fans back in 2017 that she struggled with suicidal thoughts during her time in Destiny’s Child.

The following year (2018), the singer got engaged to a pastor named Chad Johnson, and even appeared on their own reality show, ‘Chad Loves Michelle’ on OWN.

By July of that year her depression which she says she had battled since age 13, had returned. Later that year Michelle and Chad had called it quits, and Michelle had begun the work on healing herself.

The singer will cover it all in the book which is set to arrive next Spring. Get into the announcement below.
