“Love & Hip Hop” is set to return in just a few days as we told you yesterday, but this morning one of its leading stars was sentenced to some serious jail time and we’re sure it will all be documented on the new season. Via Democrat & Chronicle:

Mendeecees Harris, a star in the popular VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop-New York, received a 97-month prison sentence in Rochester on Tuesday for a federal drug trafficking crime.

Harris pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rochester in April.

Harris’ plea called for a sentence of eight to 10 years in prison.

He has been free under a bail agreement in which his earnings from the show and his paid public appearances are turned over to the federal government. That amount was more than $100,000 in April but may have significantly grown since then.

Harris this year married his girlfriend Yandy Smith, who has been a continuing fixture on the reality show.
