Saturday (Oct. 7) marked the 20th anniversary of Janet Jackson‘s groundbreaking and iconic album, ‘The Velvet Rope‘ and the singers fans have been celebrating along with her.

Anyone who remembers that album knows that it was one of THE best Janet eras of her historic career. From the ground breaking ‘Velvet Rope Tour‘ to the imagery, and the album itself, which touched on some deep and dark topics that Janet had never tackled before on previous works. The singer opened up on domestic abuse/violence, homosexuality, depression and so much more.

Janet took to social media on Saturday to acknowledge the album and what it meant for her.
