Jason Derulo Scorches ‘Billboard Summer Shape Issue’ Reveals The Secret To His Hot Body, Talks Dating Post Jordin Sparks, New Album & More [Video]

R&B cutie Jason Derulo is ditching his shirt and pants for Billboard‘s “Summer Shape” issue and opening up about his fitness regimen and life post Jordin Sparks. Via Billboard:

Jason who is on the verge of scoring his 11th million-selling single, according to Nielsen Music, with “Want to Want Me,” now at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 reveals his go to’s to keep his body tight. His menu consists of tuna straight from the can, water and a couple of spoonfuls of energy powder and swears by the fish as an emergency tummy tightener. “Try it!” he enthuses.

Fitness is Derulo’s religion. “Carrying a jug of water changes the world,” he says — when we think we’re hungry, we’re often just thirsty. To avoid hangovers, drink only vodka with soda (“You’re hydrating as you’re dehydrating”). Abstain from carbs, aside from fruit, and eat small meals throughout the day. His show rider? Puritanical. “No chips, no M&M’s, none of that,” says Derulo, who prefers organic coconuts and almonds. “How are you going to choose between Doritos and celery? If it’s in my face, I’m going to eat that motherf—er.”

Jason’s new album Everything Is 4, due June 2, boasts guests appearances from Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Meghan Trainor and Stevie Wonder.

Derulo invited Wonder to sing and play harmonica on “Broke” when the two bumped into each other at a White House dinner for the Special Olympics in 2014. “If I hear that song on the radio and I’m not on it,” replied Wonder, according to Derulo, “I’ma whoop your ass.”

The album release will also coincide with his new gig as a judge on the new season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ where he will sit alongside fellow new judge Paula Abdul when the show returns on June 1 on FOX. On growing up: “My mom says I was an introvert. I never saw myself that way, but I was always focused. I didn’t spend a lot of time doing things that I didn’t think would make me great. I studied all kinds of dance, all types of music. I got good grades. I started hitting the recording studio around 13.”

On his post-Jordin love life: He says dating is like “..A deck of cards,” and he’s “having a good time getting to know people.” He adds, “I do get tired of playing nice. Especially when people think I did something wrong, or that she broke up with me. But it’s so behind me.”

On what it would take to get him back in a relationship: “A miracle.”
