Janet Jackson Biopic Reportedly In The Works+Jan Thanks Fans After ‘Control’ Storms iTunes Top 5 Album Charts 34 Years After Release

Posted April 30, 2020

It’s been a great week for Janet Jackson, and the good news just keeps coming.

It’s been 34 years since her iconic third album ‘Control‘ was released, but this week the album saw a triumphant return to the top of the iTunes Album Charts.

The album jumped to the top 5 on the charts as of this week and currently sits there alongside her diva counterpart Mariah Carey who also saw one of her past releases return to the charts.

‘Control’ was originally released on February 4, 1986. The album peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 on July 5 of that year and spent a total of 106 weeks on the chart.

“The album went on to produce several top ten and no. 1 singles including “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” “Nasty,” “Control,” and “Let’s Wait Awhile” which all entered the top five on the U.S. Billboard 100. In 1987, “When I Think of You,” became the first of many No. 1 hits for the living legend.

Janet took to Instagram on Wednesday night to thank fans for getting the album back on the charts 3 decades after its relase.

That’s not all for JJ. Reportedly, there is a long-overdue biopic in the works.

According to The Jasmine Brand, a documentary about the iconic performer is in its early stages of development, and however it’s been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Prior to the pause in production, auditions for the lead role had already started.

Currently, the 53-year-old Grammy winner is working on her latest album ‘Black Diamond,’ which was slated to arrive this summer and accompanied by her new world tour of the same name.

We’re here for all of it.
