Just a day after coming out and revealing to the world that he is gay, Lil Nas X has another reason to celebrate on Monday.
While social media trolls and homophobes are busy throwing shade and hate online, he’s busy cashing in checks and breaking Billboard records and just made history with his hit single ‘Old Town Road.’
After blocking Taylor Swift from taking the no. 1 spot last week on the Billboard Hot 100, the rapper has extended his reign for the 13th week, making it the the longest-running hip-hop song to claim the top spot ever.
He know ties with, Boyz II Men’s ‘End of the Road’ and Brandy and Monica’s ‘The Boy Is Mine,’ who also have achieved the same feat of 13 weeks at No. 1.
.@LilNasX‘s “Old Town Road” is now the longest running Hot 100 #1 hip-hop single of all time (13 weeks; passing “Lose Yourself”, “Boom Boom Pow” and “See You Again”).

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, leads the Billboard Hot 100 for a 13th week, rewriting the record for the longest reign ever for a hip-hop hit.
The track passes three such songs that led for 12 weeks each: “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, in 2015; “Boom Boom Pow,” by The Black Eyed Peas (2009); and “Lose Yourself,” by Eminem (2002-03).
“Road” is also just the 12th single in the Hot 100’s six-decade history to dominate for at least 13 weeks. It’s the first since Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” (featuring Justin Bieber), which spent a record-tying 16 weeks at No. 1 in 2017.
Congrats young King!
