Glenn Close Shuts It Down as She Does ‘Da Butt’ & Shouts Out D.C. Go-Go Legends at the Oscars with Questlove & Lil Rel [Video]

Iconic actress Glenn Close became one of the most talked-about moments from Sunday night’s 93rd Annual Academy Awards thanks to a fun game courtesy of Questlove and comedian Lil Rel Howery.

The two took a break from the usual show format and announced that they would pause for a gam where Quest would play a song from a movie and Rel would select an audience member to try to figure out if it was an Oscar nominee, an Oscar winner or none of the above.

After Andra Day kicked it off guessing Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ and Daniel Kaluuya followed up with Donna Summer’s ‘Last Dance,’ Rel moved on to Glenn Close, seated at the same table as Kaluuya.

Quest began to play a DMV classic that he and Rel assumed the veteran actress would have no clue about.

“Wait a second,” Close said. “That’s ‘Da Butt.’ ”

“It was a classic song by the great Washington, D.C., go-go band EU,” she explained. “Shout-outs to Sugar Bear and the Backyard Band and the whole DMV.”

“Spike Lee had it written for his brilliant movie, ‘School Daze,’ and my friends at the Oscars missed it,” Close said. “It wasn’t nominated, so it couldn’t have won.”
