The DMV was the place to be on Thursday night (Dec.5) as the 2nd Annual Urban One Honors went down at the beautiful MGM National Harbor.

The annual show is a celebration of the accomplishments of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in entertainment, media, music, fashion, sports, education, and the community at large.

This year’s show was particularly special as it marks the 40th anniversary and celebrated the legendary history of Radio One, the radio division of Urban One, and its extraordinary founder, Cathy Hughes.

Hughes served as the show’s host, alongside surprise co-host, Chris Tucker. The show featured performances by Brandy, Wale, Jamie Foxx, Jac Ross, a surprise performance from Anita Baker, as well as a star-studded tribute to the late James Ingram which featured Chante Moore, Eric Benet, Al B. Sure, and Ne-Yo.

The honorees were Sylvia Rhone (Lifetime Achievement), Chance The Rapper (Represent Change), Jamie Foxx (Entertainment Icon), Missy Elliott (Music Innovation), Ryan Jamaal Swain (Represent Pride). There were also special honors for Billy Porter (Represent Excellence), Rev. Al Sharpton (Represent Leadership), and Clarence Avant “The Black Godfather” (Represent opportunity).

The A-List soiree also featured presenters, appearances and attendees such as Ray J, Erykah Badu, Lil Kim, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, YoYo, Mona Scott Young, Corinne Foxx, Da Brat, Rickey Smiley, Egypt Sherrod, NeNe Leakes, Willie Moore Jr., Ms. J Alexander, Darlene McCoy, Rodney Jerkins, Bobby Valentino and many many more.
