Fans of ‘The Game‘ were delivered great news when it was announced on Wednesday that the hour-long dramedy has been greenlit for its third go-round via Paramount+/ViacomCBS.
The confirmation comes weeks after it was rumored to be on its way back to the small screen and initially set to return to its original home at The CW according to early reports.
Now with the confirmation of it’s arrival at the new Paramount+ streaming service, the next logical discussion is exactly which cast members will return.
According to reports from TV Line, as of now, Coby Bell is set to reprise his role of frugal footballer Jason Pitts along with Brandy as Pitt’s ex-wife Chardonnay.
Coby was an original cast member from the shows inception at The CW for three seasons from 2006-2009 before being canceled.
The show was rebooted at BET in 2011 with several of the original cast including Bell, and newcomers Brandy, Lauren London, and Jay Ellis who joined the series which lasted on BET for six seasons from 2011-2015.
The BET premiere brought a record-breaking 7.7 million viewers for the season premiere which made it the most-watched sitcom premiere in cable television history.
When it premiered on @BET, @TheGameBET broke records. The sitcom is back on #ParamountPlus to offer a modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football. 🏈 pic.twitter.com/NCxh5M2Klj
